New Challenges

I've been practicing with film photography since November of 2023. I've developed about half a dozen rolls, and I think I still have a long way to go before I can claim I know how to do film. I have been stockpiling new film stocks to try, and I now am starting to scan my own negatives. As time goes on, the quality of the images should improve, but for now, if they appear to be a muddy mess at times, it's more me trying to fine tune my process.

Tried and True | Kodak Gold

When I actually started trying to do film photography, and I got my Minolta camera, the film that was loaded was Kodak Gold 200, a classic film stock. I had acquired a new roll, and I started experimenting on one of my photographic strengths: street photography. I had to say I loved how the vintage film stock added an extra layer of character to the historical buildings, I was definitely not disappointed.

Lone Sign

This shot was the second one out of the roll. My sign and I were taking a walk down our street, and as we were heading back, I happened to spot that sign. I loved the verticality of this shot, the tall trees with the vertical sign just makes the scale so much larger

Cross-Eyed

This was on the wall of a church parking lot in downtown. I loved how the cross obscured everything in the background. It's a nice poetic way to describe how my faith in Christ has been able to put everything else behind it, and has stopped being the focus of my life.

The Astin Building

One of the taller buildings in downtown Bryan. This shot really appealed to the architect in me, the details, the repetition, doing on film just gives it a classy aged feel to it. The history of the building also made it so interesting, starting as a department store, then a hotel, then a bank, and now houses offices and stores. It's a true piece of Bryan history.

Your Love & Support

Thank you to everyone that has helped me on my photo journey. For those who've reached the end, and wish to help support me in some way, there is one. Below is a link to my print gallery, where you can get any of my photos as a print or download it for your devices. Any purchases you make helps keep this habit of mine going, especially with the cost of film being ridiculously high.
